HOUSING

Since 2012, C-re-aid has focussed on developing designs for affordable housing (2000-4000 euro).

C-re-aid advocates for “housing as a basic need", and acknowledges that everybody needs a hygienic, sustainable and safe place to live.

C-re-aid wants to target the people that have limited or no access to a living space, and therefore live in deplorable shelters, which has an impact on their health and social situations.

To provide for our target group, our building materials need to be affordable and locally sourced (reducing/eliminating transportation costs). We have been exploring the possibilities of soil since the main building material as it is available everywhere.

In the past years, C-re-aid’s Kilimanjaro has been focussing on developing alternative building techniques using soil.
